Friday Freebie 2/08/2013 – Typhoon

If Menomena went folk, chances are they would sound quite like fellow Portland band Typhoon. Yes, the term ‘indie-folk’ holds some pretty poor connotations thanks to a few certain bands with their banjos and basing an entire song on shouting ‘Hey” but Typhoon’s songs boast more tempo changes than the full Riverdance act and both on record and live the group makes full use of their 17 members to create an exciting and mis-matched cacophony of sound.  There’s no lazy banjo solos here. The sophomore album from the group is due out later this month and is called ‘White Lighter’ and below you can download the first single to be taken from it ‘Dreams of Cannibalism’
