ABOUT US

Needle Hits The Groove is a radio show produced & presented by Ann Marie Duffin and Níall Carver on RTE 2xm. We play 2 hours of brand new music every week and broadcast live from Dublin, Ireland every Friday at 15.00 and the show is repeated on Sundays at 22.00.

You can listen online, on DAB or on the telly on UPC in Dublin. You can also listen back to shows anytime on the RTÉ Radio Player.

Needle Hits The Groove was born on college radio, when Ann Marie & Níall worked together on DCUfm. A shared passion for music was the kernel of the show, with a healthy difference in taste and opinion bringing a unique depth of flavour. While Ann Marie likes to shout about Roller Skate Skinny, The Smiths and Yo La Tengo, thereby an easy touch for all things jangly, slacker and lo fi, Níall’s first love was Rock n Roll but he’s a sucker for a crunchy beat, a boogie or danceable groove. We are both constantly listening, seeking and finding new musical treasures to share.

This blog is an online space for us to share music and our opinions. It is also collection of our reviews and interviews.

  1. Hi, nice to meet you !

    Hello Folks;

    We here out on the west coast of the U.S. have heard that Cork’s got surf….

    And, there’s a new band out of Seattle, Washington called La Luz that’s producing some pretty cool modern surf music, reverb and all. Bad news though is that the band got into a bad auto crash, survived it all and have recovered somewhat and are going back on tour – http://laluzband.tumblr.com/post/66285301228/as-you-may-have-heard-on-our-way-to-a-home-show

    Check out La Luz’s “Sure as Spring” at http://laluz.bandcamp.com/track/sure-as-spring. I think you may like the sound.

    Also, you may like La Luz’s “Morning High” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy1tNon65bk

    The band’s also gotten a little press on NPR radio here in the states – http://www.npr.org/artists/240564819/la-luz

    “Hey!” Surf’s Up.

    Patrick
