The Late David Turpin: Fur (Video)

Recent guest on the show and creator of the extraordinary 2013 album We Belong Dead, The Late David Turpin today shares a video for his song Fur. In his own words

“I made the video with Mark Duggan, who has worked with Le Galaxie and Fight Like Apes, as well as shooting my own album cover. We shot in BelloBar Dublin, which is a beautiful venue where the old Lower Deck punk venue used to be.  The video is inspired a little bit by the British filmmaker Derek Jarman, and by the French artist Jean Cocteau.  I wanted to make something that showed intimacy, tenderness and vulnerability between human animals, which is what the song is really about. I think romance is the last taboo these days.”

Friday Freebie – The Late David Turpin

We were so happy to have The Late David Turpin join us in studio today to talk about his recently released extraordinary album We Belong Dead. An esoteric concept record with a pop sensibility it tells the story of love in a time where humans are extinct and animals prevail. Sonically soft and warm it takes musical cues from 80’s electro but the voice and beautifully layered vocals are the albums centerpiece. Ahead of his Dublin gig tomorrow Saturday 23rd at The Workmans Club, The Late David Turpin has offered album cut Like Bird And Beast as our Friday Freebie. It features the vocals of Cathy Davey and is available to download below.
