The Late David Turpin – The Hotel

The Late David Turpin is extraordinary and he makes extraordinary music. His most recent record We Belong Dead is one of my favourite releases from last year and continues to reward time spent with it. Having David talk about making music on our radio show was a wonderful glimpse into his world and the visual accompaniments to his music are always illuminating and entertaining. Current single The Hotel arrives now with a video made in collaboration with photographer/editer Killian Broderick and starring siblings Julie Shanley and Jack Shanley (as well as Turpin and his own brother).

Of the video David says “I really like films and videos that aren’t about one specific thing, but that are suggestive of multiple things they might be about.  Rather than telling a story, I wanted our video to suggest many possible stories, both in itself and in relation to the two previous videos taken from the album”.
